Two of our MHS track athletes ran the Napa Valley Half Marathon this past Sunday. Cat Barriga ran the 13.1 mile course with a time of 1:49.05 earning her 3rd place in her age division. Isabella Barriga completed the 13.1 mile course with a time of 2:00.26 to earn her 5th place in her age division. Great run Lady Mustangs, way to represent MHS athletics!

For the first time EVER girls wrestling competed in the Coastal Mountain Conference wrestling championships!! Middletown girls took 1st!! Congratulations to the Middletown girls wrestling team!!

Paige Astley defeated the number 1 seed from Sonoma Academy to earn the title of girl's singles tennis champion at the CMC tennis tournament over the weekend!

  • Our 6th grade students will be participating in mock interviews next week- this goes hand in hand with CTE month. We wanted to give students the opportunity to gain skills needed for their future career goals/choices. These last 6 weeks, they have worked on researching different career choices and completed the following: career research essays, resumes, and cover letters. The interviews are the final step! -Lindsey Pullman

At a special board meeting on March 3rd, 2022, the Middletown Unified School District Board of Trustees offered the position of Superintendent to Thad Owens, pending final contract approval which will be on the agenda for the next regular meeting on March 9th, 2022.

Thad Owens, the new Superintendent of Middletown Unified School District was born and raised in Choteau, Montana. He is a U.S. Army Combat Veteran having served in the 3rd US Cavalry, the 6th US Cavalry and the 18th Airborne Corp.

Mr. Owens received his Bachelors of Science in Agriculture Education from New Mexico State University and his Masters of Science in Education Administration from California Coast University. Mr. Owens completed the Association of California School Administrators, Superintendents Academy in 2020.

Mr. Owens has taught for 10 years in grades 6-12. He has been an Elementary, Middle, High School and Alternative Education Principal for a combined 14 years and is currently serving as the Director of Alternative Education for Konocti Unified School District. He has been employed by Middletown Unified in the past as the Middletown High School Assistant Principal, Middletown High School Athletic Director, Middletown Middle School Principal, Minnie Cannon Elementary Principal and he has served on the Middletown School Board.
